Dr. Demetria Buie

I am a proud graduate of Saint Augustine’s College, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. I later pursued both a Master of Arts in Agency Counseling and a Master of Social Work from North Carolina Central University, before completing my Doctorate in Social Work at Capella University.

More About Me

Following my academic journey, I obtained licensure in Clinical Social Work, and I am currently licensed to practice in North Carolina, South Carolina, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, and Minnesota.

As a clinician, I am deeply passionate about supporting Black women as they navigate the unique intersections of identity, wellness, and resilience. My goal is to create a safe and affirming space where clients feel truly seen, heard, and supported in their vulnerability. At the same time, I remain open to working with individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds who are seeking compassionate and inclusive care.

I believe that healing is both personal and collective. I walk alongside my clients as they reclaim their voice, honor their lived experiences, and build a path toward wholeness. My work reflects a steadfast commitment to mental health equity and the belief that everyone deserves access to care that respects who they are and where they come from.

My Mission

“At Healing for the Culture, my mission is to provide compassionate, culturally affirming therapy that honors each client’s lived experience. I am dedicated to creating a safe space where individuals, couples, and families can heal, grow, and reclaim their voice. With a commitment to mental health equity, I strive to uplift Black and marginalized communities while welcoming people of all backgrounds into a journey toward resilience, connection, and wholeness.”
